I am trying to purchase a C52 transmission for my car. The only thing stamped on the transmissions I've found in the gunk yards is a serial number. Can the manufacturer date be determined by this serial number? (i.e. determine if it's a C51 or C52.) Your help is greatly appreciated.

You can tell a C-52 by the multiple starter ears on the bellhousing. It has a provision for intake side exhaust side starters. C-50 don't
